Summary
These are emails I executed for the company, I developed the creative direction and wanted to go with a 70s classic design for a nod and call back to small family-grown businesses such as theirs.
Duration & Deliverables & Tools
It took about 3 hours on my end to create the emails but between copywriters and content strategists, it took about a few days for the project to be completed. Each month I would have to do anywhere from 3 - 6 emails for this client. I used Photoshop and Illustrator.
Concept and Production
I had full creative control for this client, with their only guidelines being their brand colors and logo. Given that it was a small, family-owned business and my past experience with painting clients, I decided to take a more fun and playful approach. Many paint companies tend to come across as dry and corporate, making it difficult to stand out, especially when competing with giants like Home Depot or Lowe’s. I used the brand colors to my advantage, drawing inspiration from the retro lines and designs of the 70s while giving them a modern, fresh twist. The client was thrilled with the direction.
For the email creation process, I kept things streamlined by using Illustrator for the linework and focusing on organic, flowing shapes. Photoshop was my primary tool, with Illustrator serving as a secondary resource. The client provided some photos, while others were sourced from stock photography.
